Special Meeting: January 18th - 7:00PM (Fundraiser planning) Next Regular Meeting: February 2nd, 2012 7:00PM - High School Library Hypnotist Fundraiser Dinner Show - January 28th 2012 Imlay City project Graduation Class of 2012 January, 2012
Dear Senior Parents,
As the Project Graduation Committee moves forward preparing for the party planned for the night of graduation we find our self woefully short of both support from the senior parents and of course funds for the party. To date we have had monthly meeting with an average attendance of about 7-8 parents. We find it extremely difficult to plan and staff all of the fund raising activities required to have a successful graduation party for the seniors with only a few parents actually helping.
We ask that you please remember what Project Graduation does, which is to provide a safe and enjoyable alcohol free party for the graduating class after graduation assuring your son or daughter makes it home safely following graduation. With less than 1% of the parents actually pitching in to accomplish this very large undertaking, the burden has not been spread evenly and the little help that we have is losing faith quickly that we can reach our monetary goals.
You can find us on Facebook (ICHS Project Graduation 1012) for up to date info along with emails that are sent out frequently. Email is a simple and less costly communication tool, please send me an email at the address below to be added to the email list.
In the next few paragraphs we will outline all of our upcoming events planned to fund this year’s party and where we need help. Additionally there are some fliers included in this mailing to further explain what has been planned. We would like to ask that each parent pitch in to help make this year’s party a success. You may think that you don’t have the time to attend a meeting once a month, and that is understood. However, simply purchasing a ticket to one of the events and attending that event will help. After all, what we need most are the funds to make this a success. Who knows, you might just have some fun along the way. So please invite grandma and grandpa who are more than willing to support such causes along with other family and friends.
Our next scheduled fund raiser is a hypnotist that will be doing a show on January 28, 2012 at the Country Side Banquet Center in Imlay City. Show times and ticket pricing are on the attached flier. At this event we are also having a silent auction. Please take a look at the flier to access all the contact information and ticked pricing. Please note that there will be tickets available at the door, however we would like to pre sell as many as possible so we know how much food to prepare. Jack Fraylick, the Hypnotist, has performed shows for us in the past and everyone had a great time. Jack does not embarrass people at his shows but has a great time just having fun with them. This is a family show so please bring the entire family and any extended family or friends. Also, we are in need of auction items for the event. If you have something that you think might make a good auction item and would like to donate it for the auction, please let us know. Even small items make good auction items. We have a seating capacity of 250 guests so hurry and get your tickets.
In February Project Graduation is sponsoring a poker night at Mavericks Poker House in Port Huron. We only need a few more people to actually work the event so please let us know if you are available to help out. This event is scheduled for Feb. 16, 17, 18 and 19 and the times are from 4:30 pm to 2:00 a.m. Working the event is very simple, just give us a call and we can explain more about that. Not interested in working but like to try your luck at poker? This is a great opportunity to possibly win a few dollars while helping us raise funds for the party night.
In March we have a few events planned, first we have an Alumni basketball game scheduled for March 3rd. Watch for more info on this event as it becomes available. This is local this year and always lots of fun.
Later in March we are planning a bowling fundraiser at Cedar Lanes bowling alley in Imlay City, another very fun time with friends and family. We are in the process of scheduling this event and need much help. Please watch for more information on this event also.
Our next meeting will be February 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the high school library. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend to see where you can lend a hand.
Please remember, this party is for all of our children, all 150 of them. They will enjoy lots of very good food and entertainment throughout the entire night including: a hypnotist, magician, laser tag, mechanical bull, photo booth and other fun things to do throughout the night. Live entertainment is expensive. This is quality live entertainment; along with activities our children do not have access to on a routine or regular basis. Needless to say, funding for all of this will require the commitment and participation of the community. That starts with us, the parents. Hence, our financial goal is north of $12,000.
Additionally, Project Graduation pays for photos taken at commencements, another amenity that comes at an appreciable cost but is well worth it for posterity.
Last, ask yourself what you want your children to have and what you are willing to do to help bring this to fruition. It can’t lie solely at the feet of 6 or 7 parents to accomplish this undertaking alone, nor should it.
We look forward to your help and participation at each of our events in order to provide this very fun and safe party for all or our graduating seniors.
Thank you,
