Last Day of School
For School Year 2011-2012
|
|
The district has announced
that, at this time, the last day of school is scheduled for
Tuesday June 12, 2012. Due to the ability to apply some days
back into our schedule, the district has announced that the last day of
school will be changed from Tuesday June 19th to Tuesday June 12, 2012.
This will be an early release day for students. Weston Kindergarten
students will be dismissed at 12:00PM. First and second grade students
will be released at 12:10PM. There will be no latchkey after school on
this day.
It is important to note
that there is always a chance this date may change due to severe storms,
water main breaks, fires, health conditions, etc. State law requires
schools to provide a minimum number of days and a minimum number of
hours of student instruction each school year. If we end up having
another day off for some reason, we would extend the school year and the
last day of school would change.

"One
Stop Drop" Bussing
|
|
|
Beginning
with the 2011-2012 school year, our school board has approved a “one
stop” policy for all elementary students (pre-k through 5th
grade). The policy requires your child’s bus stop to be established in
the fall and maintained throughout the school year. Unless otherwise
noted, these bus stops will be at the child’s home address. The a.m.
pick up stop may differ from the p.m. drop off stop. In the
event of a genuine emergency (e.g., traffic accident, etc.) the building
principal or designee may authorize a temporary change in the drop off
address. All communication regarding your child’s bus stop must
be through the office of the school your child attends. If you have a
permanent change of residency during the school year, please fill out
the form from your child’s school office.
This policy was developed and approved after much discussion and safety
considerations. The policy provides the safest, least confusing pick up
and drop off procedures for our students. Other elementary schools in
the area have similar policies.
Parents are strongly encouraged to register for our licensed morning and
afternoon latchkey programs. Children may be dropped off before school
at 6 a.m. and stay until 9 a.m. and after school 3:40 p.m. until 6 p.m.
The latchkey program provides a safe alternative if you are unable to be
home to receive your child. Latchkey information is available at your
child’s school office.
Kindergartners and preschoolers will be seated towards the front of the
bus. If they want to be seated with siblings, siblings will need to sit
with them towards the front of the bus.
Bus
drivers will not release pre-school or kindergarten students without
seeing a person to take responsibility for the student. Drivers will
not release your student to a friend or neighbor unless that person is
on your child’s emergency card or prior arrangements have been made with
the school. In the case of no one at the stop to receive your
kindergartner, they will be returned to the bus garage or school.
We
have group stops in town, at apartment complexes, Maple Grove Community,
etc. Parents are responsible for the child’s safety before and after
the bus arrives. Please be at the stop at least five minutes before the
bus is scheduled to arrive.
