Parent Rights
Procedural safeguards provide parents of students with disabilities from birth through age 25, educational rights with respect to special education under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA).

Parents are given a copy of the procedural safeguards prior to consenting to an evaluation for special education services.  A copy is also included with each invitation to an Individualized Education Program Team (IEPT) meeting.

If you would like to obtain an additional copy, you can call or e-mail your request to Consortium for Exceptional Children Office at (810) 724-9853 or jrichards@imlay.k12.mi.us

You can access the Michigan Department of Education procedural safeguards by clicking here as well as the supplement to the procedural safeguards of July 2005 by clicking here.  You will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in to view these documents.
